When do we meet?
Second Monday morning of the month at Nowton Village Hall, 10am. Plenty of parking available.
What do we do?
We are a friendly and enthusiastic group of art lovers who discuss and study all aspects of the history and appreciation of art. Our meetings vary from talks by group members, studio visits to local artists, trips to art exhibitions, and occasionally an outside speaker. Our trips can usually include lunch or coffee, so we are able to meet socially outside the meetings.
The atmosphere is very informal, so people who are keen to learn are as welcome as those who have some background knowledge.
We are open to new members so please contact us if you would like to hear more about the group.

The group meets once a month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2:15 in the Tudor Kitchen of the Bury St Edmunds Guildhall.
What do we do?
We look at all aspects of painting, sculpture etc and the history behind it. We present a topic and then discuss it during the meeting. There is always a lively discussion in which you are welcome to participate or simply sit back and enjoy

What do we do?
Calligraphy has many styles, and is – apparently. – a very relaxing hobby.
Calligraphy is quite a mindful occupation we decided, it requires focus but also lends itself to a sociable chat as we do it.
Please note that the group is not a taught one as such, some members have experience but others none at all, and we will therefore bring our own materials and pens and work on our own projects whilst enjoying a sociable chat!
There is room for more members.
A book we all liked for beginners is “The Ultimate Guide to Modern Calligraphy and Hand Lettering for Beginners” ISBN number 9781646081493.
(If you would like to have a try out without buying equipment, I can provide photocopies and pens) Please contact Liz.

When do we meet?
We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month for two hours starting at 10.00.
We meet at the New Green Community Centre, Thurston.
What do we do?
We are a friendly group, interested in trying new crafts as well as sharing ideas and skills to create solo and joint projects.
We have enjoyed sessions doing tie-dying, polymer clay modelling, lino-cutting, glass and pottery painting, needle-felting, wet felting, bead work, and card making.
We used a range of yarn techniques and fabric printing to make a banner to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the u3a in Bury St Edmunds during 2018.
We have space for new members to join us.
The charge is £15 a term.

When do we meet?
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
The venue is Thomas Clarkson Centre.
What do we do?
The Painting and Drawing Group is for both beginners and more experienced artists who want a weekly opportunity, bringing their own materials, to work alongside others in a self help group. There is no tuition other than informal advice we share with each other.
Members can either concentrate on their own work, or choose to tackle, with others, a topic from the schedule of suggested themes and ideas proposed by the group, where ideas and skills can be shared.
Dates for upcoming sessions:
7th, 14th and 28th November
5th and 12th December
Please note no meeting on either 17th October or 21st November.
