The course will cover the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI & Mary I.

We will analyse the character and personality of monarchs & ministers, all steeped in controversy.

  • To take just Henry VIII, was he a great  Renaissance Monarch or simply “mad, bad & dangerous to know”.
  • We will examine the huge implications of Henry’s divorce from Catherine of Aragon, which eventually led to the English Reformation, which in turn produced one of the greatest cultural upheavals in English history.
